(Whoopsies, we just found out this didn't send out last week when Anna thought she hit "Send". Teehee!)

Did you miss the Annual Halloween Party? Come on down in costume anytime, anyway! It's Illusivey!

Also the bags of random comics are stuffed, the custom fabric has arrived, and the dice bags will be creatively assembled by the best dice bagging assembler person that we know.

Bump N Grind

We have yet to order New Illusive bumperstickers. It's not that we're indecisive, it's just that we can't decide.

We know it will proudly display our new "Femme with Comic" logo, but we can't agree on what it should say after that. Here are our options:

  • Is My Geek Heaven
  • My Other Car Is An Invisible Jet
  • I’d Rather Be Reading Comics
  • Geek Heaven in the Silicon Valley

(Mark thinks we should order all of them and send out the stickers randomly.)

Have an opinion on which bumpersticker slogan you like best? Let us know!

Naked No More!

The t-shirt designs have also reached the final decision phase. Many late night arguments about font placement have been resolved. A couple more tweaks and we'll start the production line.

The Wall

Happy is judging you.
Happy is judging you.

We've still got plenty of space reserved for your art, Backers. Of course, now you have to share with Darick Robertson, Mick Gray, and MacArthur Genius Award recipient Gene Yang when you draw, write, or paste in your reward zone. Come on down! Borrow some markers and paint! Decorate the New Illusive in your style! (If you pledged for the privilege, of course.)

The Continuing Story...

We're also preparing to prepare to prepare for the scheduling of classes and events in our huge new spaces. The clutter is slowly disappearing and the organizing begun. We look forward to having you all here, celebrating and learning in the community you helped create. (A series of Writer and NaNoWriMo events have just been scheduled during the week we worked on this update).

Thanks again, and don't be strangers!

Much love,

It's About Time

Hello Darlings!

We've had a few inquiries about when the physical Kickstarter Rewards will be available. We are investing time in getting the designs right and placing orders as we go. (So far, the New Illusive Logo playing cards have arrived and the dice are on their way.)

We have emailed some of you with questions and information about your special rewards - be sure to check your email for a message from [email protected] if you had extra special things.

We need at least a month to finish everything else, though. Anna has cut back from the months of 7-day-a-week, 12-hour work schedule to something only slightly workaholic, so she can see her son in his waking hours and attend to the much neglected Rest Of Her Work.  We exhibited at the Santa Clara Library Comic Con last weekend and this weekend we've got a booth at GaymerX at the Santa Clara Convention Center (tickets are still available and people are clearly having an AWESOME time). We'll sleep some time next week, but believe us, your rewards are still very much a priority for us.

No-Fly-Zone

We were going to have a booth at the NYCC, but decided that there is an upper limit to the amount of work we can do while staying on top of all of the other work. *whew*

Patience, Patients

To sum up: we still love you, we're working hard, things take time, but we're worth it!

Send sleep!

The End of the Beginning

Do you like video? Everyone likes video! Here's a walkthrough of the new Illusive for those who haven't yet been in.

Stress Test

The past couple of weeks have had even more intense than usual whirlwinds of events. We know many of you are calling and messaging Illusive asking questions about the Kickstarter. Today is the first time we've had a chance to reply in ages.

So, Mark (the wittier of the two owners) has a lovely wife who landed a job managing two branches of the San Jose Library— suddenly they had two weeks to pack up 15 years of their life and move from Southern California to the Bay Area.  So half of our brains have been busy packing, driving, unpacking and then promptly getting sick, over the past fortnight. The other half is still unpacking and arranging things at the new location, because we only moved there four weeks ago. That half is also attempting to see their families when they're awake, for the first time in three months.

Rewards, Ho!

The BackerKit survey, which 91% of you completed, was needed so we could see what you all really wanted for your Rewards, what sizes you needed, and if you wanted the items shipped to you or would be coming to Illusive for pick up.  Sorry, Remaining 9%, but we must move on. We will proceed with ordering all of the Rewards, but at this point few will be ready for the Grand Opening.

We will absolutely notify you all when we have All of The Things (Rewards) to send out or be picked up. We hope they will be ready in just a few weeks.

We will have the Illusive wall ready for you to Art it up as of Friday, September 16th.  The wall is painted light blue. You can bring pens, pencils, paints, or completed art to put up in your Art Space.

Eventuality

And now, a list of events happening at Illusive's Grand Opening Day Weekend Week:

Wednesday, Sept. 14th, from 6-8pm, Award-Winning writer and artist Gene Yang will be signing his latest DC series, New Superman.

Friday, Sept. 16th, at 2pm is our Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting with the Mayor and Chamber of Commerce.

Saturday, Sept. 17th, from 6:30-7:30 is the Private Event with Darick Robertson and Mick Gray for those of you who Backed at the $225 or more levels.

At 7:30, the event opens up to all of you and the rest of our Illusive crowd for fun, and a silent auction of two pieces Mick Gray's original artwork.

Sunday, Sept. 18th at 2pm The Doubleclicks play in concert. Bring your kids and have a great time listening to them and experiencing their musical geekyness!

Join Us

So that's that. We have more to do, and fewer brain cells to do it with than ever, but thanks to your support, it's getting done. We're so happy to make Illusive a home you can love as much as we do.

Come on by for our Grand Opening Celebrations, to wish Mark welcome to his new home town, or just to say hello. We're always happy to see you.

Snoring,

Illusive's Top Sleep Research Team (on hiatus)

How To Be Happy

Step 1 - You: Fill out your BackerKit Survey. THIS IS ESSENTIAL. Do it. Do it today. If you don't, we don't know what you want or where to send it/have you pick it up. If you say "nah, don't send it" we will assume you really mean you don't want that item. For realsies.

Step 2 - Us: Once we have all of the survey answers, we will place orders for all of the things! It's super hard to order stuff when we don't know how much stuff is needed.

Step 3: Rejoice! Everybody mambo!

(If you're having trouble logging in to Backerskit, or you've lost the survey email, just use this link.)

We're almost there, dudes. Only 13% of you remain unsurveyed. Soon the partying will commence.

Reminding you gently with a chainsaw,

The Illusive Collective
